In our 2 hour shift, our group along with a few other volunteers packaged 15,336 meals! The Universal Pediatrics office in Sheldon, Iowa delivered 112 lbs. of food items to their community Food Pantry for O'Brien County. They also collected an abundance of other commodities, such as, personal hygiene items, paper towels, diapers, and more. September 18, 2017 was the first day to start the 2nd Annual Ride for Miracles for the St. Luke's Children's Miracle Network in Sioux City, Iowa. This ride will cover nearly 5,000 miles in just 12 days ending on September 29th! The route is through the historic Route 66 and the riders will be stopping at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to meet children and share their story along the way. The journey of the Miracle Riders represents the journey sick and injured kids and babies find themselves part of each and every day. The riders will brave the elements and road conditions and will face situations that represent those of Miracle Kids. Universal Pediatrics was happy to have the opportunity to support this great cause in honor of all our clients and families who face daily challenges but keep persevering! Universal Pediatrics had their annual mid-year team meeting in August. We enjoy utilizing this time for all of our administration and corporate staff to get together for a fun team building event. Because we have an office in South Dakota and 6 offices throughout Iowa, we look forward to this annual meeting to learn more about our peers and enjoy time together. This year we did a team Photo Scavenger Hunt at Adventureland and went to an I-Cubs baseball game in Des Moines, Iowa. The Sheldon Office staff volunteered to help fill easter eggs for their local Children's Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Over 15,000 eggs are hidden each year at the Sheldon City Park for children ages 2-12 years to participate.

In September 2016, our agency held its annual Summer Sizzle event at Wildwood Hills Ranch. This is an event where we have team building exercises where our administration staff learn ways to improve leadership skills and different ways to communicate in a positive manner in stressful situations. We also wanted to take this opportunity to give back. With the help of Michael’s craft store and Wildwood Hills Ranch of Iowa, Universal Pediatrics will be donating 1,000 keepsake boxes for children attending this upcoming summer’s camp at Wildwood Hills. Wildwood Hills Ranch is a 400 acre non-profit facility where at-risk children ages 8-18 come to receive healing, hope, and God’s unconditional love. It was founded in 2001 and was created to help transform lives and strengthen communities. The Corporate Management Team for Universal Pediatric Services attended this year’s 2013 National Association of Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C., October 31 – November 3. There were over 175 educational offerings and close to 275 exhibitors. The annual meeting was beneficial for our agency to attend to connect with colleagues who share the same concerns and issues, to advocate for the home care and hospice industry at a national level, learn best practices, and to view the future to see what home care and hospice can become. Two of our Compliance Officers, Jan M. and Tracy G., arrived before the conference to attend an ICD-10 training seminar. She is punctual to work, works all scheduled hours, and is flexible when a schedule change may occur unexpectedly. Metessa is always communicating with the Minnesota Branch if there are medical changes with her client providing excellent continuity of care. Ultimate Nursing Services was proud to volunteer and support this year's "Meals from the Heartland" Annual Hunger Fight. This non-profit organization has thousands of volunteers help package meals each year. The 2013 Annual Hunger Fight's goal was to package 5 million meals, and in just 4 days 5,171,040 meals were packaged for distribution to people around the globe. Universal Pediatric and Ultimate Nursing Services was proud to make their charitable contribution in 2012 to Peach’s Neet Feet. Since 2011, Peach’s Neet Feet has been donating hand painted canvas shoes to children battling serious illnesses and disabilities. From our agency’s donation, 10 pairs of shoes will be custom painted and delivered to these children.
